London, Jan 29: AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho has dropped an apparent announcement that he would like to leave the club for a new challenge with a different European club after he says his days at Monaco are numbered.
Last year's French champions have lost stars like Kylian Mbappe, Benjamin Mendy, Bernardo Silva and Tiemoue Bakayoko this season to Paris saints Germain and different Premier League clubs respectively this summer.
Fabinho too was linked with Clubs like Manchester United and Paris Saint-German who were believed to be targeting the defensive midfielder this season to strengthen their squad but Monaco hierarchy strongly rejected all the possibilities and made a statement that no more players will be allowed the club this summer which finally saw the Brazilian's move to elsewhere collapse.
After four years at the Stade Louis II, the player has again reiterated that he wants a switch to a 'bigger club' for a new challenge and will switch club in the Summer, however, did not name any possible destination.
Fabinho told Lancenet: "If a move to a new league or a club with a bigger structure and bigger expectations, I would be interested.
"My time with Monaco was good, but I feel my time here is coming to an end.
"I know that the club's vision is to try to finish second and qualify for the Champions League, without counting on big-name players, but on young players.
"I believe I have gone through this process. I arrived as an unknown, I made my name at the club, won things - but maybe I need a new challenge."
The 24-year-old versatile player who can play both as a right fullback and central midfielder is under contract with Monaco until June 2021.
He has made over 200 appearances in Monaco shirt over five years after joining from Brazilian outfit Rio Ave in 2013, scoring 24 goals and playing a key role to help the club to win their first league title in 17 years and to reach the semi-final of the Champions League last season.
