After a prolonged hiatus, the Indian football team (both men and women) have got the green signal to participate in the Asian Games 2023 competition.
The Indian football team will take part in the continental tournament which starts in Hangzhou from September 19.

And AIFF has announced the squad for the Asian Games on Tuesday (August 1). The apex body of Indian football named a 22-member squad that will travel to participate in the Asian Games.
The Blue Tigers are placed alongside hosts China, Bangladesh and Myanmar in Group A. This is the first time the Indian men's football team will take part in Asian Games in nine years.
India will be coached by Igor Stimac and the Blue Tigers have gone with a strong squad for Asian Games. Sunil Chhetri will lead the Indian team while the likes of Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Sandesh Jhungan are also included in the team.
Youngsters such as Amarjit Singh Kiyam, Anwar Ali will also head to China as Igor Stimac included many young faces as well.
Goalkeepers: Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Gurmeet Singh, Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem.
Defenders: Sandesh Jhingan, Anwar Ali, Narender Gahlot, Lalchungnunga, Akash Mishra, Roshan Singh, Ashish Rai.
Midfielders: Jeakson Singh Thounaojam, Suresh Singh Wangjam, Apuia Ralte, Amarjit Singh Kiyam, Rahul KP, Naorem Mahesh Singh.
Forwards: Siva Sakthi Narayanan, Rahim Ali, Aniket Jadhav, Vikram Partap Singh, Rohit Danu, Sunil Chhetri.
The Indian football team will be hoping to continue their decent string of results. The Blue Tigers won the SAFF Cup recently after winning the Intercontinental Cup.
