Asian Games 2023: Indian Football Teams learn their Group Opponents - Check Out!

The Indian football teams have learned their group opponents ahead of the Asian Games 2023.

The 19th edition of the Asian Games is taking place in Hangzhou, China and the Indian football team have finally got a green signal to participate in that. Both men and women's football team were initially denied by the ministry as they didn't fulfill the ranking quota to participate.

But after a huge backlash and AIFF's formal request, the ministry has allowed the Indian football teams (both men and women) to participate in the Asian Games 2023.

Senior team coach Igor Stimac will be leading the men's team which is set to have a lot of youth players in the squad. AIFF has reportedly shortlisted 40 players and a final 25 to 28 of them will be selected for the trip to China.

And on Thursday, both teams learned about their group-stage opponents for the Asian Games after the draw.

The Indian men's football team has been slotted in Group A alongside hosts China. The other two teams of their group are Myanmar and Bangladesh. Incidentally, all of the group opponents of the Indian men's team are our immediate geographical neighbours.

The Indian women's football team has found their place in Group A along with Thailand and Chinese Taipei.
