Asom win opening tie in Under 21 National Football tournament

Guwahati, May 16 (UNI) Host Asom drubbed Delhi 2-0 in the opening match of the Under 21 National Football tournament at the Nehru stadium here today.

Starting off as favourites due to the home ground advantage, Asom dominated the otherwise dull match.

Asom gained one goal lead in the first half and consolidated it with another goal in the second half.

Both goals were scored by Lalmanpui in the 13th and 57th minutes.

In tomorrow's ties, last year's runners up Punjab will take on Services and Goa will play Mizoram.

Asom will play their next match against Bengal, the defending champion, on May 20.
