Aston Villa have regained their confidence after a challenging end to 2024, according to Unai Emery. They secured a win against Leicester City in the Premier League. Villa, seeking their first victory in three games, relied on Leon Bailey's goal in the 76th minute to clinch three points on Saturday. Ross Barkley initially scored in the 58th minute, but Stephy Mavididi equalised five minutes later.
Villa's recent form at Villa Park has been impressive, with a 10-match unbeaten streak in the league, including six wins and four draws. Only Arsenal boasts a longer unbeaten home run in the Premier League. Emery expressed satisfaction with his team's renewed vigour at home. "In the second half, we were getting better and creating chances," he told BBC Sport. "That match with those three points is fantastic for us."
Despite missing key players like Pau Torres due to injury and Jhon Duran and Morgan Rogers due to suspension, Villa managed to perform well. Emery acknowledged the difficulties posed by Leicester's strong performance but praised his team for overcoming them. Matty Cash registered Villa's first shot on target during stoppage time of the first half.

After halftime, Villa improved significantly, attempting 10 shots with four on target. This performance helped them secure a crucial victory as they began the second half of the season with renewed confidence at home.
Following their FA Cup third-round match against West Ham, Aston Villa will face Everton and Arsenal away in their next league fixtures. Emery highlighted the challenge of playing two consecutive away games and expressed hope for securing enough points to reach the top eight or ten positions.
Currently sitting eighth in the table with 32 points from 20 matches, they are just three points behind fifth-placed Newcastle. Meanwhile, Leicester City's manager Ruud van Nistelrooy felt his team deserved more from their encounter with Aston Villa.
"We were on course to get something out of this game," van Nistelrooy stated. "Overall, we controlled the game and didn't give big chances away." Despite this control, Leicester failed to convert their performance into points.
The focus now shifts to maintaining consistent performances and turning them into valuable points as both teams continue their Premier League campaigns.
