Aston Villa have secured the services of Dutch midfielder Jill Baijings on a permanent basis. She had previously been on loan from Bayern Munich for the 2024-25 season. During her time with Villa, Baijings participated in 12 Women's Super League matches, starting in eight of them. Her contributions were significant after helping Bayern clinch the Frauen-Bundesliga title in the 2023-24 season.
Villa's performance improved notably under Natalia Arroyo, who took over as manager from Robert de Pauw in January. The team concluded the season with five consecutive victories, securing a sixth-place finish in the league. This marked only their second top-half finish, having previously ended fifth in the 2022-23 season.

Despite having eight senior international caps, Baijings was not included in the Netherlands squad for Euro 2025. The team exited early after finishing third in Group D, trailing behind France and England. Although she was initially part of the preliminary squad for the tournament, she did not make it to the final selection.
Baijings is one of three new additions to Aston Villa during this transfer window. The club has also signed Lynn Wilms and Ellie Roebuck as they aim to strengthen their squad further. These signings reflect Villa's ambition to build on their recent successes and improve their standing in future competitions.
The acquisition of Baijings is seen as a strategic move by Aston Villa to enhance their midfield options. Her experience at both club and international levels is expected to bring depth and versatility to the team as they prepare for upcoming challenges.
