Liverpool have reportedly expressed their interest in Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, who has also emerged as a target for Aston Villa managed by Unai Emery.

The 20-year-oild is widely regarded as one of the finest prospects in world and has been linked with a host of top clubs across Europe, particularly in Spain. Both Real Madrid and Barcelona are thought to be huge admirers of the young winger who is capable of playing on either flank.

Nico Williams, the younger brother of Inaki Williams, has his current deal with Bilbao will expire in the summer of 2024. That means that he could well be on the move in the summer as Bilbao could be willing to cash in on him before his price drops. The Spanish youngster has a release clause of just €50 million which makes him pretty affordable for top clubs. In fact, he could be up for grabs at a lower fee this summer.

Williams has been pretty impressive for Ernesto Valverde's side this campaign having scored six goals and provided six assists in 25 games across all competitions this season. The youngster has already made 67 appearances for the Basque country club so far till date while also being capped seven times for Spain already which shows how highly talented the player is.

Williams belongs to a rare breed of wide players who are equally effective on either flank. The 20-year-old is either-footed and that makes him a real menace on both flanks. Someone like him could be a wonderful addition to Liverpool, who have looked out of their depth up front this campaign.

Mohamed Salah, who has been the Reds' talisman over the years, has looked off-colour this campaign while the likes of Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo have both struggled since his move to Anfield. Meanwhile, Roberto Firmino, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota have all struggled with injuries this season. Under such circumstances, Williams could be a brilliant and much-needed addition to the Merseyside giants.
