Kolkata, March 12: ATK Mohun Bagan will host defending champions Hyderabad FC in the second leg of semifinal 2 in Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium in Kolkata on Monday (March 13).
Juan Ferrando's ATK Mohun Bagan may have not scored against Manolo Marquez's Hyderabad FC in the first leg of the semi-final on Thursday (March 9), but the Mariner ensured their opponents did not find the back of the net either in the 0-0 draw.
ATK MB will carry a slight advantage heading into the knockout match in front of their home crowd. If the two sides are still not separated after 90 minutes on Monday (March 13), extra time and penalty shootout may be needed to decide the finalist.
During the league stages, Marquez's holders HFC were the joint second highest goal-scorers with 36 goals. The Nizams were the best defensive side, letting in only 16 goals in 20 matches.
The league's highest goal-scorer Bartholomew Ogbeche is once again the top-scorer for HFC with 10 goals. But the talisman did not start in the first leg. Javi Siverio and Borja Herrera also contributed with 5 and 4 goals each respectively.
Ferrando's ATKMB, on the other hand, has scored just 26 goals in the league stage, but have the second best defence after HFC, conceding just 17 goals.
Dimitri Petratos is the top-scorer for the Mariners with 10 goals in 22 appearances, while Hugo Boumous has scored 5 goals. The pair also got on the score-sheet in the 2-0 win over Odisha FC in the second knockout match.
The two sides have met three times this season. While ATK Mohun Bagan registered a narrow 1-0 win in Kolkata in November 2022, Hyderabad FC claimed a win by the same margin in the reverse fixture in February 2022 in Hyderabad. In the recent meeting in the first leg of the semifinal, the teams shared the spoils.
Overall, they have met 11 times so far in ISL, and ATK Mohun Bagan hold a slight edge with 4 wins against Hyderabad FC, who have won 2 such ties, while five matches have ended in a draw..
