Diego Simeone credits Atletico Madrid's accuracy for their dramatic 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. Warren Zaire-Emery initially put PSG ahead, but Nahuel Molina equalised before Angel Correa secured the win in the 93rd minute. Despite not dominating, Atletico managed four shots, three on target, compared to PSG's 22 attempts.
Atletico had previously lost 3-1 to Lille after taking an early lead. Simeone believes his team has corrected their course by breaking a three-match losing streak away from home in the competition. "You remember the last match against Lille, it was the same situation," Simeone said. "We had seven or eight goal-scoring opportunities without being able to convert. In the end, football is about success."

Simeone emphasised that while beautiful collective play is important, precision is what ultimately leads to success. Against Lille, they lacked this precision, but against Paris, they capitalised on their chances. "We defended with great collective work against a team that attacks very well," he noted.
Jan Oblak played a crucial role with an outstanding performance in goal. Simeone acknowledged Oblak's contribution and highlighted the team's improved forcefulness compared to their previous match against Lille. "We took a game that compensates for Lille's," he added.
Angel Correa has scored three of his UEFA Champions League goals for Atletico away from home. This marks Atletico's fifth last-minute winner in the competition since 2021-22, more than any other team. Correa replaced Julian Alvarez in the 67th minute, and Simeone praised his substitute's impact.
"We believe in the footballers we have," Simeone stated. He appreciated having Correa as a goal option and noted his significant contributions despite limited playing time. "When you enter the field, things always happen," he explained.
Simeone also mentioned discussions with Correa about playing time: "I tell him because he wants to play the 90 minutes, like all players." However, Correa understands his vital role as part of the team's depth.
