Au Revoir Football? Paul Pogba switches career to Silver Screen amid Ban, makes debut in French movie

Au Revoir Football? The minds of Paul Pogba fans are hurling with the same question as the French midfielder seems to have found a new abode out of the rectangular pitch.

The renowned French footballer has taken a detour into acting during his suspension from football, making his silver screen debut in a French movie.

Paul Pogba

He was initially banned for four years after testing positive for DHEA in August 2023. However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport recently reduced this ban to 18 months, accepting Pogba's claim that he unknowingly consumed the substance. This reduction allows him to return to football in March next year.

Acting Debut Amidst Suspension

During his time away from the pitch, Pogba made his acting debut in a French film titled '4 Zeros'. In this movie, he portrays a youth team coach. The premiere took place at Pathe Palace in Paris last Tuesday, where Pogba attended with his wife Zulay. On Instagram, he expressed his excitement about the film to his 62 million followers, stating: "Super happy to appear in the movie 4 zero."

Will Paul Pogba return to Football?

Despite his new venture into acting, the former Manchester United midfielder remains committed to returning to football. He is set to resume professional training by January and aims for a comeback early next year.

"I'm not a cheater. I love my sport and would never cheat. I like to win fairly. I'm a bad loser but I'm not a cheater. I take some responsibility because I took the supplement. I didn't triple-check, let's say it like that, even if it came from a professional. If I have to be punished, I am fine with it, but it should never be four years," Pogba said in a recent interview with Sky Sports.

Pogba's contract with Juventus runs until June 2026. However, Juventus' director Cristiano Giuntoli has indicated that Pogba may not have a future with the club due to their investment in other players during his absence.

While Pogba explores new opportunities off the field, he remains focused on making a successful return to football. His acting debut marks an interesting chapter in his career as he awaits his return to abode.

Pogba has had a decent career but has yet to hit the monumental level he was tipped to strike. The immensely talented player won the World Cup in 2018 with France, has been a player for Juventus and Manchester United, but his career hasn't hit the elite bottom consistently yet. As the ban on football ends in some five months time, Pogba will hope for a return amongst the best.
