Bayern Munich secured a 3-1 victory against Augsburg, despite trailing initially and losing Jamal Musiala to injury. Musiala left the field in the 54th minute with a suspected hamstring problem. Despite this setback, Vincent Kompany's team extended their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to nine points. Bayer Leverkusen could reduce this gap to six points when they play Heidenheim on Saturday.
Augsburg started strong, defending well and posing a threat on counter-attacks. Samuel Essende had the first significant shot on goal. They took the lead in the 30th minute when Jeffrey Gouweleeuw's quick free-kick caught Bayern off guard. Dimitris Giannoulis capitalised by scoring past Jonas Urbig.

Jamal Musiala equalised just before halftime, expertly controlling Leroy Sane's cross and finding the net. However, Musiala's injury early in the second half added to Kompany's concerns ahead of their Champions League clash with Inter next week.
The match turned decisively when Cedric Zesiger received a second yellow card for fouling Harry Kane. Bayern capitalised immediately with Kane heading home from close range two minutes later, giving them the lead.
Leroy Sane delivered another impressive performance for Bayern. Although not credited with an assist for Musiala’s goal, he was influential throughout. Sane led his team in shots (seven) and touches inside Augsburg’s box (11). Only Josip Stanisic created more chances than Sane during the game.
The final goal came in stoppage time through an own-goal by Chrislain Matsima. Attempting to block Sane’s shot, Matsima inadvertently redirected it into his own net, sealing Bayern’s win.
Bayern Munich demonstrated their ability to recover from setbacks once again, achieving their 21st league win of the season. They have now accumulated 12 points from losing positions this campaign, more than any other Bundesliga team.
