Augsburg delivered a surprising result at WWK Arena, defeating Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 in the Bundesliga. Goals from Dimitrios Giannoulis and Anton Kade in the first half secured the victory for Augsburg. This loss leaves Leverkusen trailing Bayern Munich by 14 points. Augsburg's early lead came when Giannoulis capitalised on Keven Schlotterbeck's pass to score past Mark Flekken.

Giannoulis played a crucial role again before the 30-minute mark, assisting Kade's goal with a cross from the left wing. Kade headed it back across goal, making it difficult for the goalkeeper to save. Despite Leverkusen's efforts to reduce the deficit, they hit the woodwork four times. Patrik Schick struck the frame before halftime, while Eliesse Ben Seghir and Nathan Tella hit the crossbar and post in the second half.

Leverkusen struggled to find their way back into the match despite their persistent efforts. Kade's performance was instrumental as he provided a comfortable cushion with his goal.
