Australia Edge Cameroon 1-0 As Jordy Bos Clinches Late Winner In FIFA Series

Australia secured a 1-0 victory over Cameroon in the FIFA Series at Accor Stadium, helped by a late strike from Jordy Bos. Hrustic missed a second-half penalty, while Cameroon pressed with several attempts. The win gives the Socceroos momentum ahead of upcoming fixtures.

Jordan Bos scored an 85th‑minute winner at Accor Stadium, giving Australia a 1-0 victory over Cameroon in the FIFA Series. The Socceroos had earlier missed a penalty through Ajdin Hrustic, yet still claimed their first win of 2026 after a tight, low-scoring contest.

The match stayed tactical and cautious for long spells, with Australia needing patience to break Cameroon down. The hosts finished with eight attempts, four on target, and produced 1.75 expected goals, while Cameroon took seven shots but forced Mat Ryan into only one save across the 90 minutes.

Cameroon settled quicker in the opening period and carried early attacking threat without seriously troubling Ryan. Christian Kofane directed a header on target that Ryan held comfortably, while Australia’s best first-half moment saw Riley McGree unleash a long-range strike that Devis Epassy gathered cleanly.

Cameroon also had openings before the break, yet the finishing lacked accuracy. Che Malone drove an effort wide from distance and Emmanuel Moungam also missed the target from a promising position, leaving both teams goalless at half-time in a contest that was competitive but short on clear chances.

Australia raised the tempo after half-time and finally gained a major opportunity on 70 minutes. Cameroon debutant Oliver Kamden was penalised following a VAR review for stepping on Aiden O'Neill’s foot inside the area, handing substitute Hrustic his first penalty attempt for the national team.

Hrustic aimed a low effort towards the bottom-right corner, but Epassy guessed correctly and pushed the shot away. Cameron Burgess and Nestory Irankunda then applied further pressure, before Bos sprinted onto a throughball that sliced Cameroon’s defence and slid the ball past Epassy on 85 minutes.

The narrow win over Cameroon closed a cagey FIFA Series meeting in which Australia had to work hard for control. Despite the missed penalty, the Socceroos created the better chances and restricted Cameroon’s threat, with Bos’ composed late strike ultimately separating the teams on 27 March 2026.
