Bengaluru, August 14: Babun Das plays for Kolkata Premier Division football side Pathachakra FC. Despite making their debut in the Kolkata Premier League this season, the new entrant caused an upset on Sunday, trouncing fancied Mohammedan Sporting 4-2.

Babun Das, one of the team's attacking midfielders struck twice and for his all round performance Das was selected as the man-of-the-match.

The 21-year old footballer lives in a place named Naihati in North 24 Parganas. It is around 37 kilometers from Kolkata. The footballer's father, Lob Das is a temporary fish seller. If he cannot buy fish from market, he has to sit at home.

Babun has two sisters. Both of them work at a local municipality with paltry amount of salaries. Amidst the miserable financial condition Babun is the man who has to run their family by offering major financial contribution.

The tragedy is that the footballer returned to the field on Sunday after a span of almost one year! He was thrown out following a severe back pain.

On Sunday after being chosen the best footballer with Rs 5000, Babun was emotional.

He said, "I can feel how much this amount matters to me. I could not play football for one year. I would have blown away unless the senior executives of my club had continuously offered me financial help."

He continued, "So today, I am dedicating my man-of-the-match award to my family, to the man who first took me to a local football ground and to my club officials."

Babun further said, "The poverty I am fighting against has been my inspiration. Whenever I was ruled out of the game due to injury, I used to tell myself that you must have to become fit again. Otherwise your family will be ruined financially."

Babun concluded on his recovery and stated, "So, along with the medicines, I resumed doing rehab. I am grateful to everybody who has helped me to come back to the field as I did not have to spend single money during the journey of my recovery."
