Philippe Coutinho to make Barcelona debut in Copa del Rey

Bengaluru, January 25: Former Brazil legend and Ballon d'Or winner Ricardo Kaka says Philippe Coutinho's move to Barcelona can make him compete for the world's best player's trophy.

The player signed for Barcelona in the first week of January after month of speculation and will now play alongside one of the best in the world, Lionel Messi and as per Kaka, this signing will be very much influential for the Catalan.

"I think it was a great signing for Barcelona," Kaka said in a discussion with former Brazil teammate Ronaldo in broadcast on social media.

"He isn't the best player in the world yet but he has a lot of quality. He has what it takes to dominate, and then fight for individual awards."

Along with Kaka, another Ballon d'Or winner and one of the best striker's of all time, Ronaldo De Lima also heaped praise on the player, however, suggested that the player has to still work hard to reach the top level but playing with a great Barcelona squad will surely improve the player.

"He's going to have a lot of competition within Barcelona. But it's going to be great to see him play with [Lionel] Messi and to see another Brazilian stand out for Barcelona. I don't know if he's going to in for the Ballon d'Or but without any doubt he's an incredible talent," Ronaldo said.

The Brazilian Coutinho became the second-most expensive player in World football after his £145million move to Barcelona this month, however, is yet appear in the Catalan jersey because of injury issue.

The La Liga leaders on Wednesday (January 24) announced the Brazilian's jersey number as 14 which was previously worn by departing star Javier Mascherano.

The player has been included in Ernesto Valverde's squad for Thursday's Copa del Rey game against Espanyol at Camp Nou and could make his debut in the second leg of the match in which they are trailing by 1-0.
