Barcelona Triumphs 5-0 Against Young Boys As Lewandowski Scores Twice

In a commanding performance, Barcelona defeated Young Boys 5-0, with Robert Lewandowski scoring two goals. This victory marked a strong comeback after their previous Champions League loss.

Barcelona achieved a dominant 5-0 victory over Young Boys on Tuesday, recovering from their initial Champions League loss to Monaco. Robert Lewandowski was instrumental, scoring twice. The team had previously lost 2-1 to Monaco in the revamped league phase. However, there were no surprises during Young Boys' visit to Montjuic for the second matchday.

Lewandowski opened the scoring in the eighth minute by converting a low cross from Raphinha. This goal resulted from excellent teamwork between Raphinha and young talent Lamine Yamal. Despite missing some opportunities, Barcelona extended their lead with quick goals from Raphinha and Inigo Martinez. Raphinha scored a rebound in the 34th minute, followed by Martinez's powerful header three minutes later.

Barcelona Dominates Young Boys with 5-0 Win

Shortly after halftime, Lewandowski netted his second goal and Barcelona's fourth by heading in a corner from Martinez. Later, Young Boys' defender Mohamed Camara accidentally scored an own goal while attempting to clear Alejandro Balde's cross. This comprehensive win marked Barcelona's first triumph in this season's Champions League.

Lewandowski's performance not only secured a crucial victory but also placed him alongside Lionel Messi as one of the most efficient scorers in Champions League history. He now averages 0.79 goals per 90 minutes in the competition, equalling Messi among players with at least 50 matches played.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Ruud van Nistelrooy follow closely with an average of 0.77 goals per 90 minutes, while Karim Benzema trails with 0.59. Additionally, Lewandowski has become only the second player after Ronaldo to score over 50 Champions League goals after turning 30, reaching a total of 51.

This match highlighted Lewandowski's continued excellence and contribution to Barcelona's success on the European stage. His ability to score consistently places him among football's elite strikers, further solidifying his legacy alongside other greats like Messi and Ronaldo.
