Barcelona end their interest in Liverpool star

London, Aug 6: This has hardly been a transfer window to enjoy for the Liverpool fans. With Champions League football back in the bag, they were expected to do much more in the transfer market than signing just three players in the form of Mohamed Salah, Andrew Robertson and Dominic Solanke.

Both of Liverpool's primary targets this summer Virgil van Dijk and Naby Keita are unlikely to move to Anfield this summer and to add further woes to the Reds, Barcelona had made to evident that they wanted Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho to fill in the Neymar-shaped hole in their attack.

However, some reliable publications have come up with an relieving news for the Liverpool fans yesterday claiming that Barcelona's interest in the Brazilian playmaker is now off.

Reports in Italy have now claimed that Barca have turned their attention to Juventus star and Messi's international teammate Paulo Dybala.

Coutinho has been consistently linked with a move to Camp Nou over the last few seasons and Barcelona are now desperate to try their best to replace their departed superstar.

Philippe Coutinho is predominantly an attacking midfielder with an excellent eye for passes and ability to create chances. He is also known for his amazing ability to find the back of the net from a long range.

However, Dybala is more of a forward Barcelona need than Coutinho is and that could be the reason why their interest has shifted. At the same time, another reason could be Liverpool and their manager Jurgen Klopp's strong stance in retaining their best player especially with the club on the rise.

Liverpool managing to retain Coutinho from the clutches of Barcelona would be a big statement by the Merseyside giants and with him, they could certainly mount a strong title challenge this term.
