Arsenal target Lemar linked to Barcelona move

Kolkata, August 9: One of the players who have been consistently linked with a move to Arsenal throughout the summer transfer window is AS Monaco sensation Thomas Lemar.

However, the Gunners are yet to reach any kind of agreement on a deal with the French champions for the star player.

If reports in Spain are to be believed, Arsenal's delay in sealing a deal for their primary target could turn out to be costly as Barcelona have identified the French international as a target.

Barcelona are in a tricky situation at the moment after losing Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain on a world-record transfer. They do have money to spend but are finding it hard to sign a player who could replace the Brazilian.

A number of players have been linked strongly with the Camp Nou side including Eden Hazard but none of the clubs are prepared to lose their priced assets especially with the season set to start in a few days.

Barcelona are considering Lemar as an alternative now which will be a major blow to Arsenal.

The Gunners have been locked in talks with Monaco for a long time now but the sides are far from each other in their valuation.

Lemar helped Monaco win the French title last season for the first time in 17 years and was in France's starting line-up for the friendly victory over England shortly after the end of last season, remains a key target for Arsene Wenger.

The promising 21-year-old started in Monaco's 3-2 opening-day win over Toulouse at the weekend. He scored 12 goals in 39 appearances last season and has three years left on his Monaco contract.

We have to wait and see what future holds for Lemar but it will be a significant blow to Wenger if the Gunners lose their primary target to Barca.
