Bengaluru, August 25: AC Milan have moved ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool in the race for Barcelona midfielder Rafinha Alcantara, according to latest reports.

The 24-year-old has been attracting a lot of interest this summer after it emerged that the midfielder could be open to a new challenge.

Liverpool and Arsenal earlier remain interested in the attacker but, according to reports, the Brazilian has agreed to move to the San Siro at the moment.

AC Milan chief Marco Fassone has also admitted admiration for Barcelona midfielder Rafinha earlier, however, suggested there's been no approach for the Brazilian.

Fassone said, "You always name talented and important players, so I can only speak highly of them when asked. There has not been any contact with Barcelona for Rafinha.

"We are confident on the way the squad has been completed with the arrival of Nikola Kalinic. If there were to be any more sales, then we might do something on the market, otherwise I think the team is strong the way it is.

"If some players approve the proposals we are discussing at the moment, then we'll see where we are and, in case we're left open, we'll try to intervene."

The Italian side have been on a spending spree this summer after they signed 11 new players but they are planning yet another signing before the transfer window closes.

It is believed that the Five-time European winners have targeted the Brazilian as an alternative of Niang who is poised to join Spartak Moscow this window.

Milan want to sign Rafinha on loan with an option to buy, however, Barcelona want to sell the player on a permanent deal and in that case, they would listen to offers around €30million.

Rafinha has been at Barcelona since he was 13, but he has seen first-team opportunities hardly come by. The midfielder has battled injuries since his ACL sprain against Roma in 2015 and since then has scored seven times in 24 appearances.
