Barcelona's recent performance has been concerning for Hansi Flick as they aim to break a two-match winless streak against Brest in the Champions League. After a seven-game winning run in October and early November, they faced a 1-0 defeat at Real Sociedad and a 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo in LaLiga. Lamine Yamal was absent from both matches.
Flick, who became manager in May, emphasised the need for his young team to handle challenges better. He stated that securing a positive result against Brest would be crucial. "The important thing is to win and that is our focus for tomorrow's game," Flick mentioned during a press conference. "It's about eliminating the mistakes, this is important."

Barcelona lost their first Champions League match to Monaco but bounced back with three consecutive wins, including a 4-1 victory over Bayern Munich. Flick highlighted the importance of learning from setbacks, especially for such a youthful squad. "We have a young team, the youngest in LaLiga, and it's not always an easy ride," he explained.
Yamal will miss the upcoming Champions League match due to an ankle sprain. Barcelona has struggled without him, losing all three LaLiga games he hasn't started this season. Despite his absence, defender Inigo Martinez expressed confidence in his teammates' ability to perform well.
Yamal has been instrumental for Barcelona this season. He stands out as the only player in Europe's top five leagues with over 25 dribbles (34), 25 chances created (26), 25 shots (39), five goals scored, and seven assists provided. "We all know how talented he [Yamal] is and how his quality on the pitch can impact a game," Flick added.
Flick hopes Yamal will return soon, possibly as an option from the bench on Saturday if his recovery progresses well. Martinez acknowledged Yamal's significance but stressed that other players are ready to step up when needed.
Martinez stated, "He is vital and very important, but that doesn't mean that the next player to come on won't be up to the similar level." He believes that once Barcelona wins without Yamal, doubts about their dependency on him will dissipate.
Flick remains optimistic about his team's potential despite recent setbacks. He believes that overcoming these challenges will strengthen them for future competitions. The focus remains on improving ball control and reducing errors to achieve consistent success in upcoming matches.
