Bengaluru, August 24: Barcelona have endured a difficult time thus far in the summer transfer market. They have seen star player Neymar leave the club on a world-record fee while the Catalans have also struggled to get any of their primary targets.

Liverpool earlier made a massive statement after refusing to sell star attacker Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona at any price while Borussia Dortmund have also played hardball with the Catalans in their approach for Ousmane Dembele.

A deal for Ligue 1 side OGC Nice's midfielder Jean Michael Seri which was very close, has also failed to materialise as Barcelona are running out of time in the transfer market.

The Catalan club are now looking to launch a bid for Liverpool's primary target, RB Leipzig's Naby Keita. The Reds tried their best to bring the Guinean to Anfield earlier this summer but Leipzig refused to do business at any price.

So, it might turn out to be a very expensive move for Barcelona if they are successful with the transfer and with just a week left for the transfer deadline, the Blaugrana could miss out on the midfielder.

Spanish media also claim that Barcelona also hold an interest in Schalke star Leon Goretzka and consider him as an alternative to Keita. Goretzka has just a year left on his current contract which makes him easier to get.

Keita was one of the stars of the Red Bull Leipzig side which showed an incredible title challenge for the Bundesliga last season. While, Gortezka lit up the summer tournament in Russia, which Germany won their first ever Confederations Cup.

The two midfielders faced each other last weekend in the Bundesliga opener which Schalke won 2-0. Both are excellent midfielders and are quite young but Barcelona must set their priorities set as they do not have much time to waste.

Barca are in desperate need for additions and must do their business smartly and quickly or else it promises to be a poor season for the Catalans.
