Barcelona are apparently looking to identify a new captain ahead of next season as Xavi seeks another steady leader in the side.
Before the start of the season, Xavi announced four different first-team captains for the squad. Seasoned veterans such as Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba, Sergi Roberto, and Sergio Busquets were selected the candidates to lead the side.

Pique and Busquets were termed the main candidate for the leading role. But following the sudden retirement of Pique last year, one of the positions got vacant.
Barcelona's number one custodian Marc-Andre ter Stegen next was selected to fill the position. However, as per some rumors, Xavi now wants another leader to include in this circle with summer signing Robert Lewandowski in the key position.
The former Bayern Munich striker's signing was marred with enough scrutiny ahead of the season with many pundits and fans pointing to the age factor. But answering to all the critics, the 32-year-old is enjoying an impressive campaign so far.
With 25 goals in 32 competitive matches, Lewandowski is playing a significant role in their La Liga title push while he has already helped the club win the Spanish Super Cup.
Xavi is understood to be ready to go ahead with the Polish striker next season as well as the focal point of the attack. The Spanish coach is delighted with his leadership quality and is now set to hand him the armband as well. He is likely to be included in the unit as a replacement for Sergio Busquets.
