Barcelona reportedly eye potential summer move for Bayern Munich defender

Barcelona reportedly eye potential summer move for Bayern Munich defender. Who is Barcelona looking to sign in the summer? Barcelona potential summer target. Will Bayern let the player go?

Bayern Munich Barcelona

Barcelona are reportedly eyeing a potential summer move for versatile Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard.

The France international has been a key player for the Bavarian giants since joining the club from VfB Stuttgart in 2019. He has already played 146 games for the Bundesliga champions, scoring nine goals and providing 12 assists.

The Frenchman is capable of playing either as a centre-back or a right-back but has played more often as a right-back. He is also capable of playing as a midfielder or as a left-back. He was a key part of Didier Deschamps' France side that won the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He was in the 2022 squad as well but was not used after the opening game.

Pavard has been looking for a move away from Allianz Arena for quite a while now but will certainly move this summer as his contract expires at the end of the next season. He has been reportedly unhappy at the German side for a while now and is said to be keen on a move to either La Liga or the Premier League. He could have joined Inter Milan in January but Bayern rejected the move.

Benjamin Pavard

As reported by Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, his agent Pini Zahavi was in Barcelona last week and spoke to the Catalan giants about a potential summer move. Barcelona have Sergi Roberto and Hector Bellerin as two natural options at right-back but neither of the two has managed to impress this campaign. Xavi Hernandez has often used Jules Kounde or Ronald Araujo at right-back.

Pavard's addition could mean that Barcelona could get a proper top-class right-back who is also capable of doubling up at centre-back when required. Aged only 26, the Frenchman still has plenty of football left in him and could prove to be a wonderful addition to Barcelona and that too at a bargain price.
