Barcelona's Nou Camp stadium to host Copa del Rey final

Barcelona, Mar 26: The Copa del Rey final between Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona on 30 May will be played at Barcelona's Nou Camp Stadium. Spain's domestic cup final usually takes place at a neutral venue, with a stadium often agreed upon by the clubs.

Real Madrid refused to host the match and as neither side could agree a location, a vote was held at a Spanish Football Federation meeting. No side has played the final in their own stadium since 2002, when Deportivo La Coruna won at Real Madrid, beating Real Madrid 3-0.

Sevilla's Vicente Calderon and Valencia's Mestalla stadiums were in the running to stage the final but were eliminated in a first round of voting, leaving just Barcelona's famous home and Athletic's San Mames in the running.

Victory will earn Barcelona a 27th Copa del Rey, while Bilbao sit second to them on the list of most successful clubs in the competition with 23 wins.
