Barcelona have sacked Xavi Hernandez as the head coach, as the club confirmed on Friday (May 24).
Barcelona had a trophyless outing this season as they are on course to finish 2nd in the LALIGA, while also getting ousted from the Quarter-Finals in the Champions League.

Xavi Hernandez, the legendary midfielder, was at the helm of Barcelona since November 2021. The Spaniard played 524 matches as a player at the club, and as a coach also did reasonably well. But things have gone fruitless this season and as a result, the club has decided to sack the manager.
A Barcelona statement revealed that the coach has been sacked as club president Joan Laporta himself told Xavi about the decision.
"Today Friday, FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has informed Xavi Hernández that he will not be continuing as first team coach in the 2024-25 season. The meeting happened at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper and was also attended by sporting vice-president Rafa Yuste, director of sport Anderson Luís de Souza, Deco, Xavi, Òscar Hernández and Sergio Alegre," the Barcelona statement read.
As the departure looks imminent, Xavi will manage Barcelona for the final time on Sunday (May 26) in their LALIGA match against Sevilla.
Barcelona won the LALIGA in 2022-23 under Xavi's tutelage, and then went on to win the Super Cup in the 2022-23 season as well.
As per reports, Hansi Flick is in the line to be the next coach for Barcelona. The club announced that they will announce the name of Xavi's successor in the coming days.
