Bradley Barcola is optimistic about his impact on Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) this season, especially in Kylian Mbappe's absence. After scoring twice against Montpellier, Barcola has already netted three goals in two appearances this campaign. The 21-year-old shone in PSG's 6-0 victory on Friday, opening the scoring with a precise finish from the left and later adding a second goal.
During the match, Barcola had the most shots (four) and touches in the opposition box (seven). He also contributed 1.17 expected goals (xG) to PSG's total of 3.9. His recent form is impressive, with involvement in eight goals (five goals and three assists) in his last seven top-flight matches for PSG. "I had a lot of fun, I felt free," Barcola said. "The coach asked everyone to press together. You have to make a lot of effort, but you get used to it as you go along."

PSG have now scored 10 goals in their first two league games this season, matching their highest tally after two games played (10 also in 2022-23), all achieved without last season's top scorer Mbappe. Luis Enrique’s team managed 27 shots against Montpellier, with 11 on target. Enrique noted that this performance was anticipated due to their intense training sessions.
"I'm very happy because it's our first home game," Enrique said. "We wanted to give the fans some joy. It was a perfect evening." He added, "I felt it in training; the intensity of the pressing increased. We scored six goals but could have scored 10. Today was our night... the players were incredible." This sentiment reflects Enrique’s satisfaction with his team's performance and their ability to execute their game plan effectively.
PSG will continue their league campaign next week at Stade Pierre Mauroy against Lille, who face Angers in their second game of the season on Saturday.
The young forward believes this is his year to shine for PSG. "I've realised that I can make a difference," he said. "Pushing the ball like that on the first goal is something I've been doing since I was very young." His confidence and recent performances suggest he could be a key player for PSG this season.
