Bayer Leverkusen Triumphs 3-1 Against Hoffenheim To Extend Home Winning Streak

Bayer Leverkusen defeated Hoffenheim 3-1, marking their sixth consecutive home win in the Bundesliga. Despite a red card for Alex Grimaldo, they maintained control and secured vital points in the league.

Bayer Leverkusen secured a 3-1 victory over Hoffenheim, marking their sixth consecutive home win in the Bundesliga. Despite a challenging end due to Alex Grimaldo's red card, they bounced back from last week's 2-2 draw with Leipzig. Victor Boniface, returning from injury, scored first after 15 minutes, converting Grimaldo's pass past Luca Philipp.

Jeremie Frimpong quickly doubled the lead four minutes later by slotting Aleix Garcia's through ball into the far-bottom corner. Although a penalty was overturned by VAR in the first half, Patrik Schick extended their lead six minutes after halftime by netting the rebound from Emiliano Buendia's saved shot.

Leverkusen Beats Hoffenheim 3-1 at Home

Leverkusen's strong start was crucial as they managed to maintain their lead despite being reduced to ten men when Grimaldo received a second yellow card for fouling Marius Butler. Gift Orban scored for Hoffenheim shortly after coming on, but they couldn't capitalise on their numerical advantage despite several late opportunities.

Leverkusen now have 45 points, trailing leaders Bayern by six points after 20 matches. Meanwhile, Hoffenheim remain in 15th place, just four points above the relegation zone. This victory highlights Leverkusen's ability to hold onto leads, having previously lost 13 points from winning positions this season.

Patrik Schick played a pivotal role by scoring his 14th goal in his last ten Bundesliga games. His performance against Hoffenheim has been consistently impressive, contributing to nine goals against them—six goals and three assists. This match also saw Leverkusen scoring both of their shots on target in the first half.

Their early dominance was evident as they have netted a league-high of 30 first-half goals this season. Despite concerns from Xabi Alonso about maintaining leads after last week's draw with Leipzig, Leverkusen ensured their efforts were rewarded with a win.

This victory underscores Leverkusen's resilience and ability to secure crucial points even when faced with adversity. Their performance continues to keep them in contention near the top of the Bundesliga standings.
