Bengaluru, February 26: German giants Bayern Munich are set to hijack Tottenham’s move for Brazilian wonderkid Malcom.
Spurs were interested in signing the Bordeaux winger in the January window but the French club were demanding a fee in excess of £50million.
The Lilywhites signed Lucas Moura instead but Mauricio Pochettino still wants the 20-year-old in the summer as he looks to lead the north London side to the Premier League crown next season.
However, German giants Bayern are now in the race for the Brazilian youngster and with them in the picture, it will be tough for Spurs to get their long-term target.
They are looking at a new winger as a priority as Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery are getting towards the end of their glittering careers.
Malcom had admitted that a move to the Premier League is likely to move away from France in the near future but Bayern Munich is a club that very few players can say no to.
Malcom said: "Yes, there was a promise that I will be negotiating in June.
"I will choose the team, and Bordeaux will let me go. I already said that I would have liked to leave this winter to meet new challenges.
"But I must also remember that Bordeaux helped me a lot. I have given my word to Bordeaux that I will continue [with the club] to be able to have more time to choose my future club.
"These next three or four months will make a big difference."
Apart from Spurs, Malcom has been monitored closely by a host of other English clubs also.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are also huge admirers of the talented winger and all of them are still keeping close tabs on the Bordeaux man.
