Bayern Munich Dominate 4-1 Over Borussia Monchengladbach In Kane Absence

Bayern Munich extended their Bundesliga lead with a 4-1 home victory over Borussia Monchengladbach. Diaz opened the scoring, Laimer and Diaz combined for another, and Musiala added a third as Gladbach went down to ten men. Jackson completed the scoreline, while the visitors' consolation came from Wael Mohya.

Bayern Munich extended the gap at the top of the Bundesliga to 14 points with a 4-1 win over 10-man Borussia Monchengladbach at Allianz Arena, showing control despite Harry Kane’s absence as Luis Diaz, Konrad Laimer, Jamal Musiala and Nicolas Jackson all found the net.

The match turned further in Bayern Munich’s favour on 57 minutes when Borussia Monchengladbach captain Rocco Reitz brought down Nicolas Jackson as Jackson ran clear on goal. The challenge led to a red card, and Jamal Musiala calmly converted the resulting penalty for a first league goal this season.

Bayern beat Gladbach 4-1 without Kane

Before the dismissal, Bayern Munich had already built a strong position against Borussia Monchengladbach in this Bundesliga meeting. Luis Diaz struck first shortly after the half-hour, volleying past Moritz Nicolas after a precise lofted pass from Leon Goretzka. Diaz then turned provider during first-half stoppage time, setting up Konrad Laimer’s powerful finish.

That second goal came from a swift counter-attack, as Diaz released Laimer on the right side of the area. Laimer drove into space and drilled a rising shot into the roof of the net. Bayern Munich entered the break two goals ahead, leaving Borussia Monchengladbach chasing the Bundesliga contest.

Borussia Monchengladbach had briefly believed they struck first when Lennart Karl scored in the 11th minute, but an offside flag cancelled the effort. Bayern Munich made their pressure count instead, and later Jackson added the fourth, finishing Karl’s low cross off the post, before Wael Mohya claimed a late reply.

Mohya reacted quickest after Jonas Urbig saved Fabio Chiarodia’s shot, tucking in the rebound for Borussia Monchengladbach. Stats underlined Bayern Munich’s superiority in this Bundesliga match, as Vincent Kompany’s team produced 3.05 expected goals from 18 shots, compared with Gladbach’s 1.04 xG from 10 attempts.

Team Expected goals (xG) Shots
Bayern Munich 3.05 18
Borussia Monchengladbach 1.04 10

Nicolas Jackson stepped in for Harry Kane at centre-forward for Bayern Munich, posting a joint-high three shots and a match-best 10 touches inside the box. Lennart Karl and Leon Goretzka led chance creation with three key passes each, while Diaz attempted six dribbles. Mohya also became the first 17-year-old to score for Gladbach in the Bundesliga.

The result showed Bayern Munich could maintain attacking threat without Kane, as Kompany’s side controlled Borussia Monchengladbach for most of this Bundesliga clash. With four different scorers, strong underlying numbers and a growing points cushion, Bayern strengthened a commanding position at the top of the table.
