Bengaluru, March 10: Jupp Heynckes has again left his Bayern Munich future open to discussion as the veteran manager has claimed he has not yet decided on leaving the club in the summer. The Bavarian board decided to part ways with their Carlo Ancelotti midway through this season. Ancelotti, a former Real Madrid boss, was sacked just a year into his tenure at the helm of Bayern following their 3-0 Champions League defeat to PSG and in the midst of a troublesome start to the 2017-18 campaign for the defending Bundesliga champions.

The German powerhouse called back their former treble winning and retired manager Jupp Heynckes on an interim basis for the rest of the season. Since Heynckes's appointment, Bayern have again tightened their position in the all competitions and are currently leading the Bundesliga and close to making the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.

Heycknes only signed a contract with Bayern until the end of the season. However, Bayern fans hope for the 72-year-old German to continue at the helm for a couple of more years.

Heycknes, meanwhile, has repeatedly explained his intention of leaving the Bundesliga club at the end of the season. Even last week, he described former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel as a potential Bayern manager.

However, ahead of Bayern's match against relegation-threatened Hamburg, Heynckes did a surprise u-turn, hinting he may be persuaded into signing a new Bayern Munich contract.

"I can only say nothing at all is decided yet, because, until, now I have definitely never said I will retire in the summer," he said.

"I have only ever referred to our agreement from last year, which is still valid," he said.

Heynckes retired from football at Bayern in June 2013 after leading the club to the treble and the manager may yet repeat the feat again this season as Bayern are currently competing in all the three competitions - Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Champions League.

Since Heynckes' return, Bayern have lost only once. They are currently 17 points clear of second placed Schalke (46 points in 26 matches) with a game in hand.
