Bayern Munich's Vincent Kompany Confident Of Winning In Milan Despite First Leg Defeat To Inter

Following a 2-1 defeat to Inter Milan, Bayern Munich's coach Vincent Kompany remains optimistic about their chances in the return leg. He believes they can capitalise on opportunities and secure a win in Milan.

Bayern Munich's head coach, Vincent Kompany, remained optimistic despite his team's 2-1 loss to Inter Milan in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final. The match saw Bayern trailing after Lautaro Martinez scored for Inter in the 38th minute. Although Thomas Muller equalised in the 85th minute, David Frattesi secured Inter's victory with a late goal.

Kompany expressed confidence in his team's ability to turn things around in the second leg. "We had the chances to score more than once tonight, two or three, or even more," he stated. Acknowledging Inter's attacking prowess, he noted that Bayern was more dangerous and had opportunities throughout the match.

Kompany Confident Bayern Can Win in Milan

Veteran player Thomas Muller echoed Kompany's sentiments about the potential for a comeback. Having recently announced his departure from Bayern after 25 years, Muller emphasised that there is still much at stake. "We know that there's definitely still a lot to play for," he remarked, acknowledging that they had hoped for a different outcome in the first leg.

Austrian right-back Konrad Laimer shared his frustration over letting control slip away during the game. He highlighted Bayern's strong performance over extended periods but admitted that Inter capitalised on their moments effectively. "We should have gotten more out of the game," Laimer commented.

Kompany remained steadfast in his belief that Bayern could succeed in Milan. He dismissed any notion of defeat due to injuries or other factors, stating, "I don't think we need to come out defeated because of injuries or things like that." He emphasised that Bayern would have their chances in Milan as well.

Muller reflected on their approach and acknowledged areas for improvement before conceding the second goal. "Maybe we were a bit too cautious at the start," he said, stressing the need for aggression while recognising their successful comeback attempt.

Laimer also looked ahead to upcoming matches with optimism. He mentioned their focus on recovering and preparing for Saturday's game against Dortmund before shifting attention back to next Wednesday's crucial encounter with Inter. "It's important that we're full of strength and energy again," he stated confidently.

The team remains hopeful about their prospects in Milan, believing they possess enough quality and resources to secure a win. As Laimer pointed out, games like these often hinge on small details, which they aim to address moving forward.
