Bayern Munich Secures 2-1 Victory Against Freiburg To Extend Bundesliga Lead

Bayern Munich defeated Freiburg 2-1, with Harry Kane scoring the opener and Kim Min-jae adding a second. This victory extends Bayern's lead in the Bundesliga to six points.

Bayern Munich extended their lead in the Bundesliga with a tense 2-1 win over Freiburg. Harry Kane opened the scoring, helping Bayern move six points clear at the top. Bayer Leverkusen's 2-2 draw with RB Leipzig allowed Bayern to widen their gap at the summit. Kane and Kim Min-jae scored for Bayern, who now have 48 points.

Despite a recent 3-0 Champions League loss to Feyenoord, Bayern started strong against Freiburg. Jamal Musiala hit the post early on before Kane scored after 15 minutes with a low shot from the edge of the box. Kim Min-jae doubled the lead nine minutes into the second half with a header from a corner.

Bayern Munich Wins 2-1 at Freiburg

Freiburg managed to pull one back in the 68th minute through Matthias Ginter's header. However, Bayern held firm to secure their fifth consecutive league win, equalling their best winning streak this season. Despite only attempting seven shots, their lowest in any top-flight match this season, they maintained their lead.

The match saw history being made as Eric Dier assisted Kane's goal, marking the first time two English players combined for a goal in the Bundesliga since Opta began recording data in 2004-05. This achievement highlights Kane's impressive start to 2025, where he has contributed three goals and an assist in four league matches.

Kane's goal against Freiburg increased his tally to 17 Bundesliga goals this season, with six being crucial opening goals. He also found the net in September’s reverse fixture against Freiburg, which ended in a 2-0 victory for Bayern. This latest win continues Bayern's dominance over Freiburg, remaining unbeaten in their last 18 league encounters and winning 14 of those.

Freiburg's Struggles Continue

Freiburg's defeat marks their third consecutive loss, dropping them to ninth place in the standings. This poor run follows a period where they had only lost twice in eight previous Bundesliga games. Their current form contrasts sharply with earlier performances this season.

Bayern Munich’s consistent performance keeps them firmly at the top of the table as they aim for another successful season. Their ability to secure wins even when not at their best is proving crucial as they maintain their position as league leaders.
