Bayern Munich to take action over Bernd Leno rumours

German Popular media group made a claim that to solve the goalkeeping crisis the Bayern board are looking for a possible recruitment and have chosen Leverkusen keeper Bernd Leno.

Bengaluru, December 12: Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich have warned a leading German tabloid on Monday (December 11) after the media publication linked the Bavarian club with a possible January move for Bayer 04 Leverkusen keeper Bernd Leno.

Bayern's number one keeper Manuel Neuer has been out of football action for nearly three months now after he broke his leg in September this year and is expected to be out until March 2018.

In his absence, his deputy former VfB Stuttgart goalkeeper Sven Ulreich filled in the void until he also suffered an injury recently after tweaking his thigh and academy teenager Christian Fruechtl is also unavailable due to injury.

In such situation, to manger Heckneys's rescue former Bayern keeper Tom Starke came out of retirement to play against Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend which was his 100th Bundesliga appearance.

German Popular media group made a claim that to solve the goalkeeping crisis the Bayern board are looking for a possible recruitment and have chosen Leverkusen keeper Bernd Leno.

Bayern Munich's sporting director, Hasan Salihamidžić, however dismissed such claims and launched a scathing attack on the report stating that the club is satisfied with their goalkeeping options and could take legal action over the false report.

"The Bild newspaper claims in its current issue that Bayern Munich want to sign Bernd Leno from Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen 'in the winter break'," a statement read.

"This reporting is without foundation.

"Bayern Munich will take legal action."

Sporting director, Hasan Salihamidžić also provided the same update and said: "This story in the Bild newspaper is wrong."

"That's total nonsense. We are satisfied with our goalkeepers."

Bayern are currently top of the league table with 35 points and will be up against action minnows Koln in the midweek.
