Bengaluru FC has emerged as the team to beat in the 2024-25 Indian Super League (ISL), currently leading the standings with 17 points from eight games, including five wins and two draws. Their strong defensive setup has conceded just six goals, while their goal difference of +7 is the best in the league.
This transformation follows strategic recruitment over the past year, beginning in January with key signings like Chinglensana Singh and Nikhil Poojary, and further bolstered in the summer with stars such as Rahul Bheke, Jorge Pereyra Diaz, Alberto Noguera, and Edgar Mendez.

Head coach Gerard Zaragoza has seamlessly implemented his philosophy, seeking to rekindle the success of Bengaluru's 2018-19 title-winning season, in which he served as assistant coach. "We did good recruitment, getting exactly the players we wanted to sign. For a coach, that's amazing," Zaragoza said.
He added, "I consider myself to be a more attacking coach," distinguishing his approach from former head coach Carles Cuadrat's defensive strategies. New arrivals have made notable contributions, with Mendez scoring three goals and two assists, while Diaz, Noguera, and Ryan Williams have each chipped in with crucial goals.
Bheke, who joined from Mumbai City FC, has brought stability to the defense with an impressive record of blocks, tackles, and clearances. Confident about Bengaluru's prospects, he stated, "Surely we can reach those heights in the 2018-19 season."
Williams, now in his second season with Bengaluru, has become a fan favorite, having scored four ISL goals and showing a strong desire to help the team. Reflecting on last season's disappointing finish.
He shared, "I really want to win something with this club. It's the first place I came to when I arrived in India... I want to bring the joy back to the city." Under Zaragoza, Bengaluru FC has come a long way from their 10th-place finish last season, with a focused, united squad ready to fight for a return to the top.
