Bengaluru FC Storm into ISL Semi-Finals with 5-0 Win Over Mumbai City

By MyKhel Staff

Bengaluru FC secured a commanding 5-0 victory over Mumbai City FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium, booking their place in the ISL 2024-25 semi-finals. The Blues will now face FC Goa in a two-legged clash, while Mumbai City's campaign comes to an end.

Despite controlling 59.5% possession, the visitors struggled to contain Bengaluru's clinical finishing, as the hosts converted five of their six shots on target into goals.

The breakthrough came early, with Ryan Williams delivering a low cross in the 9th minute. A misclearance from Thaer Krouma allowed Suresh Singh Wangjam to fire home into the bottom corner.

Mumbai City had a chance to respond in the 22nd minute when Nathan Rodrigues met Brandon Fernandes' corner, but his header went off target. Bengaluru doubled their lead before halftime when Williams was fouled in the box by Hmingthanmawia Ralte, leading to a composed penalty conversion by Edgar Mendez in the 42nd minute.

The second half saw Bengaluru maintain their attacking intensity. In the 62nd minute, Wangjam won possession high up the pitch and set up Williams, who slotted past Phurba Lachenpa to make it 3-0.

Sunil Chhetri then produced a moment of brilliance in the 76th minute, firing in a long-range strike to extend the lead. Former Mumbai City forward Jorge Pereyra Diaz added the final blow in the 83rd minute, finishing a well-placed pass from Alberto Noguera to seal a dominant performance.
