The Juggernauts have salvaged themselves after the 2-0 defeat to ATK Mohun Bagan in the Hero ISL playoffs. The momentum is certainly in their favour as they come into this tie on the back of three consecutive wins, after a 1-1 draw with East Bengal FC in the opening group stage game of the Hero Super Cup. Miranda's side came back from a goal down to secure a comprehensive 3-1 victory over NorthEast United FC in the semi-final.

On their way to the final, Odisha had a topsy-turvy yet memorable ride as they began the group stages with a 1-1 draw against East Bengal, thanks to a late goal from winger Nandha Kumar. His form, along with Diego Mauricio's unquenching thirst for goals saw them defeat Aizawl FC (3-0) and Hyderabad FC (2-1) and NorthEast United (3-1 in semis) to reach the final.

Bengaluru FC, on the other hand, fought their way into the semis after facing stiff battles from Sreenidi Deccan and Kerala Blasters (playing 1-1 draw with each of them). I-League champions RoundGlass Punjab, whom Bengaluru defeat 2-0, did them a favour by beating Sreenidi in the last group game and pave the side's way to the semis.

They defeated an in-form Jamshedpur FC 2-0 in that game to book their final ticket. Jayesh Rane became the unlikely hero with a header while Sunil Chhetri sealed the win with a volley from close range.
