Benjamin Sesko has expressed his determination to revitalise Manchester United following his high-profile transfer from RB Leipzig. The 22-year-old striker joined the Red Devils for a reported fee of £74 million, signing a five-year contract. His arrival was celebrated by fans at Old Trafford before their final pre-season match against Fiorentina.
Sesko's impressive record includes 21 goals and six assists for Leipzig in the 2024-25 season, with 13 goals scored in the Bundesliga. Notably, he was the youngest player to score at least 20 goals across Europe's top leagues last season. This addition is expected to bolster Ruben Amorim's attacking options significantly.

The club aims to improve after a challenging previous season under Amorim, where they finished 15th in the Premier League, their lowest since 1989-90. They also experienced their first trophyless campaign since 2021-22 and lost to Tottenham in the Europa League final, marking their 20th defeat in all competitions.
Despite these setbacks, Sesko remains optimistic about leading United back to success. "Just that we get better, that we connect together, in general, and we, as a team, just try to grow," Sesko stated. "It's just a matter of time when we can fly high again."
Sesko was linked with Newcastle United but chose Manchester due to its rich history. "I think, first of all, because of the club," he said. "It's just a historical club that is unbelievable." He also cited Zlatan Ibrahimovic as an inspiration for joining United.
Ibrahimovic played for Manchester United between 2016 and 2018, scoring 29 goals in 53 appearances and winning three trophies. Sesko has admired Ibrahimovic since childhood: "I've been watching him... because he's just amazing for me."
Sesko also looks up to other former United stars like Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney. He aims to emulate their success by contributing significantly on the field. "Of course, I try to take some stuff from him," Sesko said about Ibrahimovic's influence.
"I'm kind of the guy that is ready to attack," he added. Sesko is eager to make an impact at Old Trafford and could debut against Arsenal on Sunday, August 17.
