Slovenian superstar finally reveals why he rejected a move to Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea this summer

Benjamin Sesko has shed light on his decision to remain at RB Leipzig, despite significant interest from Premier League powerhouses Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal.

The 21-year-old forward became one of the most sought-after talents after an impressive season, netting 18 goals for the Bundesliga club, matching his tally from his final year with Red Bull Salzburg.

Sesko's scoring spree in seven successive Bundesliga games at the end of the 2023/24 season was pivotal in securing Leipzig's Champions League spot, inevitably sparking interest from several top clubs.

Manchester United were among the first to express interest but ultimately shifted their focus to signing Joshua Zirkzee after initial efforts to land Sesko were rebuffed. Chelsea also monitored the Slovenian forward but did not progress further with their pursuit.

Arsenal emerged as the most persistent suitor, with manager Mikel Arteta keen on adding another central striker to his squad. Despite the Gunners' determined efforts, Sesko surprised many by opting to extend his contract with RB Leipzig instead of making a move to the Premier League.

In a recent interview with Nogomania, Sesko explained his motivation behind staying in Germany. He highlighted the importance of gaining more experience and honing his skills at a club like RB Leipzig, which he believes is perfectly suited for his development.

"I thought it through very well. I believe I made the right decision," Sesko stated.

"I wanted to gain more experience, learn more, and not rush things. Leipzig is an excellent club that can provide what I need for the next step. Leipzig’s vision is clear; everything is geared towards growth, progress, and high goals. I felt it was right to decide this way."

Sesko's new contract with Leipzig runs until 2029, however, there is reportedly also a gentleman's agreement that could facilitate a move next summer if a suitable offer arrives.

But for now, the young striker is concentrated on continuing his progress and contributing to Leipzig's ambitions in the Bundesliga and beyond.
