Bernardo Silva's Future After Man City Exit Amid Barcelona Links
Bernardo Silva confirmed that this season will be the last with Manchester City, yet the destination remains unknown. The Portugal international said no agreement is in place for next season, despite strong links with Barcelona, and plans to delay any final choice until after City’s campaign ends with the home match against Aston Villa on May 24.
The 31-year-old attacking midfielder disclosed that the contract with Manchester City expires at the end of June and will not be renewed. John Stones is also set to depart when the current deal finishes next month, drawing another long City spell to a close as the squad prepares for important matches on two fronts.

Silva stressed that the priority is to finish the season strongly before considering offers for a new club. Although Silva admitted having a preferred option in mind, the decision will wait until discussions with the representative start on May 25. That meeting comes one day after the final scheduled appearance for Manchester City.
Speaking to The Athletic, Silva declined to name any potential employers, even with reports linking Barcelona. When asked directly about that possibility, Silva responded: "I dont want to talk about names." Interest from several major European clubs has been reported, but Silva insisted that no final talks will proceed before the season ends.
Across nine seasons in Manchester, Silva built an extensive record of appearances and trophies. Since joining from Monaco, Silva has played 457 matches for City in all competitions, with 76 goals and 75 assists. Those contributions came across domestic and international tournaments during one of the most successful periods in the club’s history.

Silva’s medal collection with Manchester City includes six Premier League titles, five EFL Cups and two FA Cups. The midfielder also lifted the Champions League and the Club World Cup. There is still a possibility to add another Premier League and FA Cup winners’ medal, depending on the outcome of the final fixtures.
Manchester City trail Arsenal by two points with two league matches left, while the FA Cup final against Chelsea takes place on Saturday. Silva is expected to feature in both competitions as City chase another domestic double. The farewell match at Etihad Stadium will be against Aston Villa on May 24.
Silva explained that there will be no major career conversation until the final ball is kicked for City. Silva said: "I genuinely dont know where I'm going to be. I just really want to enjoy and focus on my last games here. I told my agent I will speak to him on the 25th [of May], the day after that Aston Villa game. I can play at the highest level, which I still want to do, and where my family is happy. I have an idea and my preference [for my next club], but we'll see what happens."
For now, Silva’s focus stays on helping Manchester City in the title race and the FA Cup final, with personal plans placed deliberately on hold. Whatever decision follows the talks on May 25, the midfielder’s time at Manchester City already includes sustained success, significant influence on the pitch and a notable set of honours.
