Bernardo Silva is focused on leaving a winning legacy for the future players of Manchester City as he begins his tenure as club captain. The Portuguese player took over the captaincy after Kevin De Bruyne's departure in June, marking Pep Guardiola's first captain appointment. Silva led the team at the Club World Cup, where they faced an unexpected defeat by Al-Hilal in the last 16 of the revamped tournament.
Since joining Guardiola's squad from Monaco in 2017, Silva has made 266 Premier League appearances. During this time, he has secured six league titles, scored 43 goals, and provided 46 assists. His achievements also include winning the Champions League, four EFL Cups, two FA Cups, and one Club World Cup. Now at 30 years old, Silva aims to instill the same winning mindset in City's younger players that leaders like Vincent Kompany and Fernandinho passed down to him.

"I was lucky enough to play with some players like Vincent, Fernandinho, David [Silva], Kun [Sergio Aguero] and the legacy they left us is that it's not enough to finish second, third or fourth," Silva shared on City's website. He emphasised that the legacy they wish to impart to new signings and younger players is that winning is essential at this club.
Silva expressed pride in his new role but acknowledged its significant responsibility. He aims to set an example through his daily conduct while fostering a positive atmosphere in the dressing room. "It's about respect between us, but at the same time, competing for a position in the team," he noted.
The team is highly motivated for the upcoming season. Silva believes many positive developments are on the horizon as they work diligently to deliver more titles for their fans. "We're very motivated for the new season," he stated confidently.
Silva's leadership approach focuses on maintaining high standards and ensuring every player understands their role in achieving success. By drawing from past experiences with former leaders, he hopes to guide Manchester City towards continued triumphs.
