Besiktas have retracted their offer to sign Kyle Walker-Peters. The former Southampton right-back requested a delay in his medical examination with the Istanbul club. Walker-Peters became a free agent after his contract with Southampton ended in June. He initially joined Southampton on loan from Tottenham in January 2020 and later made the move permanent for £12 million in August of the same year.
During his time at Southampton, Walker-Peters played 202 matches across all competitions, more than any other player since his Premier League debut in February 2020. Last season, he started 35 Premier League games but was part of a team that only gathered 12 points. This performance nearly matched Derby County's record for the fewest points in a season and led to relegation with seven games left, setting a new Premier League record.

Several Premier League clubs were reportedly interested in signing Walker-Peters, who earned two senior England caps in 2022. However, Besiktas had reached an agreement to sign him before withdrawing their interest due to his delayed arrival in Istanbul. The Turkish Super Lig side cited this delay as the reason for retracting their offer.
A statement from Besiktas confirmed: "It is public knowledge that the arrival of professional football player Kyle Walker-Peters, who we had previously announced had reached an agreement in principle and been invited to Istanbul for a medical check-up, has been postponed. Kyle Walker-Peters has once again requested additional time in his notice to us today. Thereupon, our club gave up the transfer of the player in question."
Despite this setback, Besiktas continue their transfer activities according to their established policy. They have also shown interest in Portugal full-back Nelson Semedo. Semedo is currently a free agent after his contract with Wolves ended last month.
The situation surrounding Walker-Peters highlights the challenges clubs face during transfer negotiations. As Besiktas explore other options, they remain committed to strengthening their squad for future competitions.
