Brazilian football star Neymar Jr. has thrown his full support behind Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the FIFA World Cup in 2034, calling it “the best project” he’s ever seen.
Following a tour of the Saudi bid exhibition in Riyadh, Neymar praised Saudi's ambitious plans for hosting the iconic tournament. “I think it's the best project I've ever seen in my life,” the Al-Hilal forward said.

“I’m happy to be a part of it and help out in some way. It’s incredible,” Neymar continued. “They've thought of everything, not only for the players but also for the fans.”
Neymar also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s efforts to ensure a player-friendly environment. With reduced travel times between host cities and carefully planned logistics, he believes the bid is focused on optimising the experience for both players and spectators.
“They’re thinking about the players so that there are no long flights and travel time, making it easier to get from the game to the hotel and from the hotel to the game so that we can recover faster,” he told the media.
Beyond infrastructure, Neymar acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s commitment to developing its national team, noting the positive changes in the local football landscape. He expressed optimism about the Saudi team's growth over the next decade.
“Definitely. I think that not only the Saudi Pro League but also the Saudi players are getting better every year in terms of quality and competitiveness,” Neymar said. “They will definitely be more competitive in 2034.”
Since moving to Al Hilal SFC, Neymar has experienced life in Saudi Arabia firsthand and was initially surprised by the country’s warm hospitality. He added that he and his family feel settled and happy, with the welcoming culture making a strong impression on him.
“From a distance, we have a very different perspective of what the country is really like,” Neymar said. “When people come here, they have a different, very positive perspective, just like I did.”
Neymar’s support aligns with Saudi Arabia’s slogan, “Growing. Together.” The Kingdom’s bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2034, which rests on its focus on showcasing its cultural vibrancy and enthusiasm for football to the world, will be decided by the FIFA Congress on December 11, 2024.
