Bobby Clark Joins Salzburg From Liverpool On A Permanent Transfer

Teenage winger Bobby Clark has departed Liverpool to join Salzburg on a permanent transfer. Clark, who joined Liverpool in 2021 from Newcastle United's youth system, made his senior debut under Jurgen Klopp in a 9-0 win over Bournemouth in August 2022.

Clark's time at Liverpool saw him make five Premier League appearances in the 2023-24 season. He also played in the Reds' extra-time victory over Chelsea in the EFL Cup final and scored his first goal for the club during a 6-1 Europa League win against Sparta Praha.

Salzburg moved closer to securing a spot in the Champions League's new 36-team league phase by defeating Dynamo Kyiv 2-0 in the first leg of their play-off tie on Wednesday.

Clark's goal against Sparta Praha made him the youngest Liverpool scorer in European competitions since Trent Alexander-Arnold scored against Maribor in the Champions League in 2017. Despite his achievements, intense competition limited his chances for regular first-team football.

In a farewell post on X, Clark expressed gratitude for his time at Liverpool: "After an incredible three years at Liverpool, I've decided it's time for a new challenge. I've learned so much during my time at the club and am very thankful for the opportunities and experiences I've had. Thank you to all the fans who supported me on this journey. YNWA."

Clark has signed with Salzburg on a contract that runs until 2029. The move aims to provide him with more opportunities for regular first-team action.
