Aitana Bonmati feels she is part of a remarkable era in Spanish football as they gear up for the Euro 2025 final against England. She scored the decisive goal in their semi-final victory over Germany, which ended 1-0 after extra time. Additionally, she provided a backheel assist during their quarter-final win against Switzerland. Spain aims to become only the second nation to hold both the World Cup and Euro titles simultaneously in women's football, following Germany's achievement from 2001 to 2009.
Bonmati is among many skilled players in the Spanish team, including fellow Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas, Arsenal's Mariona Caldentey, and promising talent Claudia Pina. "I think there has already been confirmation, with all due respect. This shows that we are a golden generation. We are experiencing unique things," said Bonmati.

This upcoming match marks the third encounter between Spain and England since the 2023 World Cup final. Both teams were also paired in their Nations League group, each winning their home games. Despite facing each other recently on June 3, Putellas remains focused on enjoying the final.
"It's a final. It doesn't matter how England have been so far; they have very good players. I think it's going to be a very good game. It's becoming a bit repetitive to play against them," said Putellas.
Putellas emphasised the importance of managing emotions during such high-stakes matches. "I always try to enjoy myself, but that doesn't mean going out to laugh," she explained. "You have to know how to manage the adrenaline and turn it into enjoyment."
Reflecting on Spain's progress over the years, Putellas noted that their confidence has grown significantly. "The trust is absolute. That's why we've won in these years," she stated.
A decade ago, Spain might have missed opportunities like these finals, but now they approach them with confidence and determination not to let them slip away again.
