Spain's Aitana Bonmati is optimistic about completing a clean sweep of international titles by winning Euro 2025. The reigning world champions and last year's Nations League victors, La Roja, are among the favourites for the tournament in Switzerland. Montserrat Tome's team will kick off their campaign against Portugal on 3 July, followed by matches against Belgium and Italy in Group B.
Bonmati emphasised that winning the Euros is their primary goal this year since it's a trophy they haven't claimed at the senior level. "Winning the Euros is our main objective this year as a national team because it's one of the trophies we don't have with the senior team," she stated. She has previously won it at youth level but not with the senior squad.

Before focusing on Euro 2025, Spain aims to secure a spot in this year's Nations League Finals. They face England on Tuesday, needing only a draw at RCDE Stadium to advance to the final four. Spain leads Group A3 by two points and hopes to maintain that advantage.
Spain faced a setback when England defeated them in the Euro 2022 quarter-final. Bonmati believes this loss was pivotal for her team, who later avenged it by beating England in the World Cup final. "I think we deserved better in that match [in 2022]," Bonmati said. "We played a great match, but in the end, they beat us."
Bonmati highlighted how Spain has evolved physically over time. "After that, we won the World Cup, we won the Nations League, and we grew up a lot as a team," she noted. Spain has always had talent and technique but struggled physically against teams like England or the USA.
On an individual level, Bonmati is eyeing her third consecutive Ballon d'Or win if Spain succeeds in both tournaments. The 27-year-old matched Barcelona teammate Alexia Putellas' back-to-back wins by securing the award twice herself. This season, she has already claimed Liga F and the Spanish Supercopa with Barcelona and reached the Champions League final.
"It will be so nice [to win it again] and a unique achievement," Bonmati expressed. She believes their team's accomplishments could keep the Ballon d'Or at their club due to having some of the world's best players.
As Spain prepares for these significant challenges ahead, Bonmati remains hopeful that this year will bring more success for both her and her national team.
