Aitana Bonmati is set to join Spain's Euro 2025 squad soon after being released from the hospital. She was diagnosed with viral meningitis, which caused her to miss Spain's last warm-up match against Japan. The Spanish team won that friendly 3-1 in Switzerland on Friday. Her condition initially cast doubt on her participation in Spain's opening Group B match against Portugal on Thursday.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has confirmed that the 27-year-old midfielder has been discharged and will soon rejoin her teammates. A statement from RFEF stated, "After several days in hospital with viral meningitis, Aitana Bonmati has been discharged from hospital and will join the Spanish National Team's training camp in the coming days."

Bonmati has achieved significant milestones with La Roja, earning 78 caps and scoring 30 goals. She ranks seventh in all-time appearances for Spain, trailing behind Barcelona teammate Alexia Putellas, who leads with 132 caps. In terms of goals scored for Spain, only six players have surpassed her tally. Jennifer Hermoso leads with 57 goals, followed by Veronica Boquete with 38.
