Borussia Dortmund secured a 2-1 win against St Pauli, with Serhou Guirassy scoring the decisive goal in the 83rd minute. This victory temporarily places them fourth in the Bundesliga standings. Guirassy's header came just five minutes after Eric Smith had equalised for St Pauli with a remarkable 30-yard shot, silencing the home fans.

Dortmund initially took the lead through Ramy Bensebaini's header just before halftime. Despite having opportunities to extend their lead, Julian Brandt and Donyell Malen missed clear chances. Instead, it was Smith who levelled the score for St Pauli in the 78th minute with his long-range effort. However, Guirassy ensured Dortmund's victory by converting Jamie Bynoe-Gittens' cross into his fourth goal of the season.

The win brings Nuri Sahin's team to 13 points in the league. They are now just one point behind leaders Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, who both have 14 points. Bayern is set to play Stuttgart, while Leipzig will face Mainz on Saturday.

Guirassy has been a standout player this season, leading the Bundesliga with an expected goals (xG) value of 4.42. In Friday's match alone, he attempted six shots with a combined xG of 1.66, both being game-high figures. His persistence paid off when he successfully headed Bynoe-Gittens' cross past goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj.

Dortmund has shown strength in late-game situations this season. They have scored four goals in the final 15 minutes of matches, a tally only surpassed by Stuttgart's five goals during that period.
