Bayer Leverkusen Triumphs Over Borussia Dortmund With Schick's Two Goals In Bundesliga Match

Patrik Schick's two goals propelled Bayer Leverkusen to a 3-2 triumph over Borussia Dortmund on Friday. This victory marked Leverkusen's sixth consecutive league win, moving them just one point behind Bayern Munich. Dortmund, meanwhile, experienced their first home defeat of the Bundesliga season. The match resumed after a three-week winter break, with Leverkusen scoring three times in the opening 19 minutes.

Leverkusen's aggressive pressing paid off immediately as Nathan Tella scored within 25 seconds of kick-off. Dortmund, missing several key players due to injuries and illness, struggled to respond. Schick extended Leverkusen's lead in the eighth minute with a close-range finish following a swift counter-attack.

Meanwhile, this loss marked Dortmund’s first defeat at the start of a calendar year since 2004; they had previously maintained an unbeaten streak of five games under Nuri Sahin.
