Borussia Dortmund Triumphs Over Celtic 7-1 With Karim Adeyemi's First-Half Hat-Trick

Karim Adeyemi's first-half hat-trick led Borussia Dortmund to a commanding 7-1 victory against Celtic in the Champions League. The match featured five goals from Dortmund within the first 42 minutes, demonstrating their offensive strength.

Karim Adeyemi delivered a stunning performance for Borussia Dortmund, scoring a first-half hat-trick in their 7-1 victory over Celtic in the Champions League. The match at Westfalenstadion saw Dortmund net five goals within the first 42 minutes, thrilling the 80,000 spectators. Emre Can opened the scoring with a penalty in the seventh minute after Celtic's goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel fouled Jamie Gittens.

Despite an early response from Celtic through Daizen Maeda, who scored from an Arne Engels cross, Dortmund quickly regained control. Adeyemi restored their lead with a deflected shot off Auston Trusty in the 11th minute. He then extended the advantage with a powerful strike past Schmeichel and won a penalty for Serhou Guirassy to convert before completing his hat-trick.

Dortmund Defeats Celtic 7-1 in Champions League

Adeyemi's performance was historic as he became only the second German player to score three goals in the first half of a Champions League match. The last player to achieve this was Mario Gomez for Bayern Munich against Napoli in 2011. Adeyemi's feat was highlighted by OptaFranz on Twitter: "3 - Dortmund's Karim Adeyemi is the second German player to score three goals in the first half of a Champions League match after Mario Gomez in November 2011 against Napoli (for Bayern). Furious."

Serhou Guirassy also shone by scoring twice, adding to his tally for this season's competition. His second goal came midway through the second half, further cementing Dortmund's dominance. Substitute Felix Nmecha rounded off the scoring with another goal late on, leaving Celtic grateful to Schmeichel for preventing an even larger defeat.

Dortmund have now secured two consecutive wins at the start of this season’s Champions League campaign. In contrast, Celtic faced a harsh reality check after their previous triumph over Slovan Bratislava where they scored five goals. The attacking prowess of Dortmund was evident as they managed to get 13 out of their 16 shots on target, significantly outperforming their expected goals (xG) total of 2.91.

Jamie Gittens had been pivotal in Dortmund’s earlier win against Club Brugge but it was Adeyemi who took centre stage this time around. Alongside Guirassy and Gittens, Adeyemi has made an impressive start to this tournament by reaching three goals already.

The emphatic victory underscores Dortmund’s attacking strength and sets them up well for upcoming matches. Their ability to capitalise on opportunities has been key so far and will be crucial as they aim for success in this year's competition.
