Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that striker Niclas Fullkrug has departed from their pre-season training camp to engage in discussions with another club. Reports suggest that the unnamed club is West Ham, with Fullkrug flying to London on Saturday for a potential £27 million transfer.
Fullkrug's performance at Euro 2024 was noteworthy, where he scored two goals in five appearances, mostly as a substitute. He played a crucial role in helping Dortmund secure fifth place in the Bundesliga and featured throughout their Champions League final loss to Real Madrid in June.

The 31-year-old striker netted 12 league goals last season, leading the team with an expected goals (xG) of 12.86. This was the highest within the Dortmund squad, with Donyell Malen coming second with an xG of 9.55. Fullkrug managed to score every 200.42 minutes in the Bundesliga, converting 11 out of his 24 big chances at a rate of 45.83%.
Niclas Fullkrug left the training camp in Switzerland on Saturday morning. Borussia Dortmund permitted him to leave for talks with another club.
While Fullkrug appears set to depart, Nuri Sahin has strengthened his defensive line by bringing Yan Couto from Manchester City on an initial season-long loan, with an option for a permanent move. Couto joined City in 2020 and spent the last four seasons on loan, three of which were with Girona.
The Brazilian full-back made significant contributions during his time at Girona, making 34 appearances in La Liga last season. He provided 10 assists and helped secure 11 clean sheets as Girona qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history.
Couto also represented Brazil in the Copa America but did not play any matches under Dorival Junior's management. His addition is expected to bolster Dortmund's defence significantly as they prepare for the upcoming season.
As Borussia Dortmund navigates these changes, fans will be keenly watching how these moves impact their performance both domestically and internationally.
